The Hogue Family has been spending alternate Thanksgiving Holidays at DoubleHead Resort since 2003. My mother, “Mimi” decided to make this trip a gift to her family when she moved from our large, country home in Moulton to an apartment in a retirement facility in Birmingham and space prohibited large family gatherings. It immediately became a cherished tradition. At our gathering in 2013, 9 cottages held 48 of Mimi’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren from 5 states.

We have had all kinds of weather — cold and rainy, warm and sunny and everything in between. There is always something to do: playgrounds for the young ones, football on the field for all ages, skeet shooting, tennis, walking along the lake shore and nighttime bonfires — as well as just enjoying the beauty of nature in the safe environment of DoubleHead.

We thank the staff for their assistance in making our Thanksgivings memorable. They are helpful, friendly, and courteous. And, no testimonial would be complete without mentioning the delicious Thanksgiving Dinner. It’s almost as good as Mimi’s, except — NO LEFTOVERS!

Our 98 year old “Mimi” passed away this last year. We look forward to continuing the tradition she began as we return this year to celebrate her life and share memories of the times we spent together at DoubleHead.
